Document 13: Day in the Life of a Supervisor
There is evidence that the resources sector will continually be stretched to have Supervisors
with the appropriate industry knowledge and experience, particularly with the ageing population.
As a result, this tool was created to assist new Supervisors to be on top of what they need to
do in their day to day role.
This tool was developed to assist a Supervisor in their daily duties. The day is divided into the following categories:
- Supervisor Pre-Shift Planning;
- Supervisor Start of Shift;
- Active Shift Supervision; and
- Supervisor End of Shift.
Contextualisation
This tool is generic in its nature to accommodate the depth of the resources industry.
It is intended to be customised to suit:
- Site and organisational requirements; and
- Specific work areas and streams:
- Coal and Metalliferous;
- Surface Operations;
- Underground Operations;
- Processing;
- Oil and Gas; and
- Contracted Project Work.
