Document 13: Day in the Life of a Supervisor

There is evidence that the resources sector will continually be stretched to have Supervisors with the appropriate industry knowledge and experience, particularly with the ageing population. As a result, this tool was created to assist new Supervisors to be on top of what they need to do in their day to day role.

This tool was developed to assist a Supervisor in their daily duties. The day is divided into the following categories:

  • Supervisor Pre-Shift Planning;
  • Supervisor Start of Shift;
  • Active Shift Supervision; and
  • Supervisor End of Shift.

Contextualisation

This tool is generic in its nature to accommodate the depth of the resources industry. It is intended to be customised to suit:

  • Site and organisational requirements; and
  • Specific work areas and streams:
    • Coal and Metalliferous;
    • Surface Operations;
    • Underground Operations;
    • Processing;
